Where do sessions take place/how are sessions charged?

Music therapy sessions can be delivered at home, or delivered at The Plucked String, a music studio in South Melbourne located at Level 2, Unit 201/370 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne VIC 3004.

Pricing:

Our fees follow the current NDIS Price guide at 156.16 per hour. Sessions are offered in 45-minute and 60-minute time slots depending on your preferences, with each appointment including an additional 15 minutes of clinical administration to ensure accurate progress notes, outcome tracking, and communication with relevant supports. 

Rhythm and Sound Music Therapy provides individualised, evidence-based support tailored to each person’s strengths, needs, and goals.

Sessions may work towards a range of therapeutic outcomes, including targeting the following areas:

Communication & Speech

Live music-making, singing, and vocal activities to support speech production, breath control, expressive communication, and confidence using the voice.

Increased Cognitive Functioning and Development

Structured musical exercises to strengthen memory, attention, sequencing, task initiation, and cognitive flexibility.

Movement & Physical Skills

Rhythmic interventions to improve gross motor coordination, gait stability, movement planning.

Adapted instrumental activities to further develop and strengthen fine motor skills, bilateral coordination, hand function, and functional movement skills. 

  • Please note, to work towards these goals, the person receiving music therapy sessions needs to be additionally accessing services from a physiotherapist so that the music therapist can work in conjunction with the physiotherapist’s assessments*.
