At Rhythm & Sound Music Therapy, services are delivered by a qualified Registered Music Therapist (RMT) recognised by the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
What is music therapy?
Music therapy is a clinically informed and evidence-based practice, that uses music based experiences and interventions to foster enhanced emotional, cognitive, social, and physical well-being, tailored to the unique needs and goals of each individual.
Music therapy can be delivered across the lifespan to support improved functional, cognitive, emotional, and social outcomes, tailored to each individual's goals, unique needs and lived experiences. This may include:
Infants, children, and adolescents with developmental delaysIndividuals with profound and complex disabilitiesAdults with progressive illnesses including dementiaIndividuals with intellectual or neurodevelopmental disabilitiesAdults with neurological conditions or acquired brains injuriesPeople undergoing medical rehabilitation
What do we do?
We provide music therapy designed to support improved functional outcomes, well-being, and quality of life. Sessions are individually designed and tailored to support each person’s goals through structured and meaningful musical engagement.
We currently offer music therapy to children, young people, adults and older adults to provide support with the following:
Developmental delay
Intellectual and physical disabilities
Profound and multiple disabilities
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Autism
Acquired brain injury
Progressive and neurological conditions, including dementia and Huntington’s disease
Palliative care
Our approach is tailored to each person’s unique strengths, goals, and needs, using music as the tool to work towards non-music based goals.
